The quickest way to assess your fleet operations is to ask the right questions.

The 16 questions in this workbook are based on the many experiences I have had reviewing fleet operations for our customers.
I have learnt over many years that it is not so much what you are currently doing that needs assessment. Rather, it is being able to ask the right questions about fleet management as an overall business. This is what usually gets the highest value return when it comes to improving your fleet operations.
Work your way through these 16 questions, and write down the answers.  I really do believe that these questions, together with your answers will open doors to new opportunities for your fleet operations.  

Questions are like that. They open doors and new ways of thinking.  

Here are just 5 of the questions that you need to answer about your fleet operations.

• Do I have an accurate count of my fleet vehicles by location?
• Are you managing your fuel costs and consumption?
• Do I base vehicle selection on specific criteria?
• Used Vehicle marketing, if done properly, reduces the cost of depreciation which is nearly 30% of total costs. Ask yourself…………….
• Do I understand the correct theory of when to replace my vehicles to obtain the best prices?

Each question is presented on a separate page...
On each page I pose you a question and briefly explain the rationale behind the question. This is to make sure you are clear about the question and why it is important for you to ask it.

Then there is space to write in your answer.

Finally, there is a very important question for you to answer.

After some careful evaluation, ask yourself “If you don’t like your answer what are you going to do about it?”

This is the answer that is potentially going to open new doors for you in respect of your fleet operations. Then there is space for you to write down your next action step - there and then!

This is the key – not to just read the questions. You need to answer each question and then decide on the necessary action you will take.

If answering just one of these questions makes you move in a better direction, the small amount of effort you have spent answering these questions will have been well with it.
